Marvels in Math
Our Guided Math Workshop
Each day, our math curriculum will be delivered in the Guided Math Workshop format. Math Talks initiate instruction, followed by M.A.T.H. stations which allow for independent practice, game play, math fact fluency, and guided instruction directly from the teacher. The sessions conclude with formative assessments, review of standards taught, or students openly reflecting on learning and connections.
01.
Math Talk: A standards based problem is posed for the group to solve. Multiple solutions are recorded and shared by students. Problems often shared are review of previous skills, or introductory problems to a new focus skill.
02.
Guided M.A.T.H. Workshop: Students participate in differentiated small groups that explore Math Facts (fluency), All By Myself (independent practice), Teacher Time (guided lessons with the teacher), and Hands On Games (partner and small group practice of math skills emphasized in lessons).
03.
Follow Up: Formative assessments, student feedback, self discoveries, standards reviews, or student evaluation of confidence in their skills may conclude daily lessons.
We run our Guided Math Workshop during the mornings, sandwiched around our specials schedule which begins after 10am.
